Tutorial hockey:

(this section is so far incomplete)

so you think you are ready for hockey? you should already have established a reputation in miniball.

to get into hockey games people have to trust that you know about defence and teamwork, because if one player in the game cant do these things, their team will lose badly.

for this reason, i suggest you hang out on br chat and find a vet to play hockey games with you, and get your name known.

you can also get yourself known by hanging out in the UGN-R channel (this will show that you are keen to learn hockey, and are worth play hock with).

anyways... once you are getting into all the hockey games that are made, or you can make a game with your noob friends, anyway.. here are some tips:

tips not complete yet ;x

first
check out drakling's Uniball Guide if you havnt already done so.
preview:

secondly look at Meisarch's Playbook which is specific to hockey.
preview:

but for starters i recommend always staying goalside of your man, dont turnover possestion of the ball, if the other team has the ball.. each memember of you team should mark and stay close to a guy from the other team so that they cant pass or progress down the map.

most importent is that they cant score, worry more about covering the goal than getting the ball.

in offence use walls to get away from defenders, create passing lanes by driving away from the play drawing your defender away, then rushing (cutting) back in.

blah blah blah... this section needs alot of work done to it, and since im kind of busy dont expect any real progress for about a month which is when i go on holiday, as right now i only have about 5-10 minutes a night free time.

checklist:
you are probebly almost ready for a good squad like syb s-u mpt phear fye etc.

posts in this section will be from players such as meisarch outkast etc..

micro: even with good teamwork you need good ballskills, and a range. practice bouncing and fumbling, possibly by dueling. The more you try dangerous agressive ballskills, the better you get at saving yourself from dangerous situations.

now that you have good enough ballskills to get out of dangerous situations, learn not to get into them. learn to play smart and strategically so that you should never turn the ball over, or have any risks.

if your teammates are behind you, its often best to pull over to the side and let the defending team overtake you, this means you wont get doubled and lose the ball.

blah blah blah

do this do that..

Here we have sergios hockey tips!!! please thanks Sergio who has given a lot to the uniball community and has promoted uniball in Portugal a lot.

My friends, i finally decided to lose a few minutes of my life to write something that can help some people to play better a game to which I've dedicated a lot of time of my life: Uniball.

So what I'm going to do is write the topics of the most important "rules" of defense, offense and uniball in general.

I'm gonna develop the first topic and then I'll develop any other topic as soon as someone asks me to, meaning, if anyone of you wishes to know more about a certain topic you just need to say it and I'll develop it... i just think it would be a waste of time if i developed every single topic because that would take me hours... ;)

Here it goes then:

Defense:

1 - Don't double!

Every time a player makes a double the other team has a goal opportunity. If a certain team doesn't double it has automatically much more probabilities of winning the game.
You should only double when you're defending 3 vs 2 (and obviously 3 vs 1...), because there's 1 extra defender and in those cases you should use the double to have more probabilities of recovering the ball before you get back to 3 vs 3.
Anyway the double has to be done in an intelligent way, meaning, it has to be done in a way that, knowing that our teammate (who is marking the player that we are going to double) is in a certain place/position, we can be able to understand which path or option will that player (the one who is being doubled) choose.

---> Either he tries the pass and the double has to be done in a way that can cut his pass line...

---> Or he will try to juke using a certain path and in that case you should:

...............try the "sandwich"
...............try to take the ball with a soft touch
...............try an aggressive collision that makes the ball leave his ship and go to anywhere close of any of our teammates

2 - Last man. This is one of the most important!

last man = From the 6 players, the one who is closest to our goal has to be always someone of our team, and preferably with the boost completely full.

last man = To be behind all the opponents all the time. (as in always)

3 - Don't spend your boost on defense when not needed!

4 - Try to be always covering the goal line and/or the pass line!

5 - Don't rush (can also be called dive i think, not sure...), you only rush on certain specific situations!

6 - On face-off you should always have 2 behind and 1 ahead (above them), the best option is in /\ when on 3 vs 3!

7 - Give space to your opponent in a way that if he tries to shoot or pass we can cut the play or even keep the ball in our possession!

8 - Never stay still because that will give offense the time they need to plan/think on a good play!

9 - Keep always a certain distance from the opponent you are marking specially if that opponent has lower ping then you and/or he is better then you!

10 - Block your opponents every time it's possible to do so, BUT only when that is positive to your team!

11 - Win time by delaying offense when in 1 vs 2, 2 vs 3 or 1 vs 3 situations so that your teammates can get back to their defense positions!

Offense:

1 - Pass the ball / Make safe/secure passes / Simple passes won't hurt nor decrease the skills of a player!

2 - Juke/bounce to pass / Juke/bounce to score / Juke/bounce to create (1 vs 2 ; 2 vs 3 or 1 vs 3)

3 - Be always aware of the last man (always pay attention to your team's last man) / If the last man attacks, the other 2 (or at least 1, but i say 2 so that you understand that both have to be awarelast man)

4 - Use your boost correctly = Don't waste your boost...

5 - Don't invent : You should only try new stuff and fancy plays on noob games, on "serious"/difficult/"hard" games you should always play safe/secure!

6 - When you are last man and you have the ball, try to juke only when you're sure you'll be successful while, at the same time, you know that there is at least 1 of your 2 teammates in a very good position to be able to quickly occupy the "last man" position and stop the counterattack (break-away, don't know the best expression to use here).

7 - There's always a way to score / You have to be patience when your team is not finding a way to score... but at the same time you have to try to be unpredictable.

8 - To have creativity / To have a good vision (meaning to read the "game" or the plays of the game very well or by another words "to know everything that is going to happen")

9 - Don't be predictable, that will be your "death" like 100000000000 times...

General help topics to play good uniball:

1 - Don't speak!

2 - Don't stop!

3 - Try to be always aware of every 6 players positions using mini map! (i personally look at the mini map a thousand times a game
4 - Always be confident in yourself and in your 2 teammates!

5 - Be patience, a lot!

6 - Pay very, very attention / Be very, very aware / Be very, very concentrated!

7 - Fun: After all why do we play this game?

Because we have fun while playing it, and so, while you're in a game where you're not having fun sometimes it's better to leave and give your spot to someone who will have fun in our spot...

8 - Know the limit distance of the gravity and how to use it properly on several different situations!

9 - If you want to know how i know exactly when the ball is going to be available on the face-off i have always used the uniball sound no matter if i listen music at the same time for 5.5 years now.
